Deschutes County Ballroom teaches all forms of Partner Dancing including; Ballroom, Latin, Swing, International, Country Western, Vintage, and Specialty Dances.

Lessons are taught from beginning-never-been-on-the-dance-floor to performing & competitve levels. We offer semi-private group lessons, private lessons, group classes, free beginner classes, and wedding dance preparation! All Lessons are taught throughout the week during normal business hours, simply call or stop by to schedule your first lesson! Lessons are 50-minutes long unless otherwise specified.

Private lessons are 1 single or 1 couple with the dance director, or in some cases (to be determined by the dance director); 1 single or 1 couple with an advanced student mentor and the dance director.

Beginning semi-private group lessons and private lessons are considered Social Foundations of Bronze Lessons, or simply- Social Foundation. From there you move into regular social- competitve Bronze, Silver, and then Gold. For most people wanting to dance, learning in the Social Bronze level (Foundation-Intermediate) is more than enough to have alot of fun and be prepared for many opportunities to dance in a social setting! For those who wish to take their dance training to a higher level of ability and/or to compete nationally, moving into Advanced Bronze, and Silver and Gold levels would be the natural progression.

When at all possible it is very important to plan to take both private and group instruction. Private instruction focuses on your level and dance needs, while group instruction provides you with reinforcement and practice of what you are learning on your private lessons. All of our lessons can be purchased in studio or online, with Monthly Group Class plans starting at just $15.

There is no set dress code at the studio, and dance shoes are not required for lessons, however, the following guidelines will help to prepare you and make your dancing experience more enjoyable;

    Wear smooth-soled shoes with non-marking soles. No sandals or thongs. (If you have nothing else, just wearing your socks is just fine to start)
    Wear comfortable, non-revealing clothing that allows you to move freely. (Tight clothing, low-cut tops, high cut skirts will all inhibit your "range" of movement)
    Dress respectfully- don't forget social dancing is partner dancing, meaning, think of your partner too! (Are your sleeves so blouse-y your partner is going to get tangled in  them? Are your pants so long you are going to trip and cause an accident for you and your partner?)
    Have some fun! Dancing is glamorous and timeless, use your dance time to dress up! Dressy casual- Dressy is welcome and enjoyed!
    General dress guidelines- Ladies: slacks/blouse, skirts, dresses, even jeans- all great. Men: slacks/shirt, dress pants/shirt, even jeans- all great. Be comfortable!
    Again- social dancing= SOCIAL= PARTNER! Go easy on the perfume/cologne, and bring along some breath mints!

No partner is necessary for Private Lessons or Group Classes, and all levels of dance experience are welcome! Students must be 18 years of age or older, or have received written, verifiable permission by Parent or Guardian, and approved by DCBDC Owners.
